Giving Back

I’ve lived a bit of a blessed life. It hasn’t always been easy, and I’ve battled my share of demons, but I’ve always been secure in the knowledge that I’d never go without shelter, food, or support. While I’ve often been there to provide material and emotional support to friends and family, I’ve not often been involved in public service. Given that the world can sometimes be a little harsh I’d like to take a more active role in making it a better place, both for myself and for the people around me, whether they be friends, family, or strangers.

Here’s a nice thought from former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger:

Help others and give something back. I guarantee you will discover that while public service improves the lives and the world around you, its greatest reward is the enrichment and new meaning it will bring your own life.

Now I just need to find the best way to give back.
